With many new people joining our community, I thought it would be wise to share with you my top 10 travel must haves to make your holidays even easier!
1. Duvalay Bedding
Lets be honest, caravan beds aren’t often the most comfortable especially if you are sleeping on the convertible sofa. We experienced good sleep generally but our bodies often protested of a morning and if I’m honest I wasn’t a fan of having to make up the bed every night with a mattress topper/sheet/duvet. Then I discovered Duvalay Bedding! This transformed not only our sleep comfort but the evening hassle of making the bed. Now its just unroll and climb in!
2. Idahoan Mashed Potato
Cooking in the caravan can be challenging and washing up most certainly is! I will never not have this product in the caravan staples cupboard… one bowl and you have the most amazing mashed potato in less that 1 minute!
3. Extra Aquaroll
We quickly discovered this is a must have, especially for our family and if you plan to use your shower in the caravan. It also means that when you do run out of water you can just pop out and change over to the full aqua roll and refill when it’s convenient, as we all know that the water runs out mid wash up or more horrifyingly mid shower!
4. Waste Kit
This little piece of kit makes the exit of the waste water so much easier, neater and cleaner, its great for avoiding the bendy plastic tubing which don’t really fit into the waste master.
We picked ours up and the local caravan supply shop for less that £5, and it was a quick and easy install even for the DIY challenged hubby!
5. Security Devices
We have two security devices on our caravan, we have a wheel lock and a hitch lock. Many security devices will also bring down the cost of your Insurance.
Our caravan is also registered with CRiS, the National Register for UK touring caravans, similar to the DVLA. Our caravan being brand new featured the new industry standard VIN CHIP, if you want to add this to a pre 2016 caravan its possible to retrofit and you can obtain a kit starting from £34.99 from the CRiS.
6. Your Favourite Tipple
I mean this one is just self explanatory… but for example alcohol will always be required following any poled awning construction.
7. Soggy Days Entertainment
It’s the UK so we all know there’s going to be wet and rainy days, I actually love these every now and again when we are away in the caravan, just make sure that you have indoor entertainment. We have some classic board games, colouring and puzzle pages for all ages! Just watch the puzzles when travelling, I made a catastrophic mistake of putting one upright in the cupboard, arrived on site to open cupboard and a 1000 pieces poured out onto me!
8. Ikea Tool Kit
We knew we would need some tools to hand at the caravan, and we saw this set in IKEA when we were wandering around, its fab, has the basics you will need and is a bargain at only £8
9. Insurance and Breakdown Cover
Insurance for the Caravan is a real essential, and making sure you have the right cover for your caravan and Kit is really important, Making sure each year you check you content/equipment cover is vital, this year we added extra cover value to ours as we’d purchased a new awning and plenty of extra equipment since we started our journey last year. Breakdown is vital too, make sure any cover you currently have for your car includes what you need for towing a caravan, and if it doesn’t make sure you upgrade. We haven’t had to call on either type of cover thankfully, but it’s worth every penny for the peace of mind.
10. Caravan Journal
Its such a fun thing to create memories away on family trips, so we started making a note of where we stayed and when, plus a handful of memories from that trip. We were making this on our iPhones until I found this one from a fellow caravanner Anna Rae we love this one, so bright and colourful with a brill sense of fun within the illustrations.
